Dudley Poplak

Winfield House – Design: Billy Haines / Dudley Poplak

Dudley Poplak (1930–2005) was a British interior decorator who established an independent practice in London after moving from South Africa in 1959. His work focused principally on
private residential commissions in Britain and overseas and included projects for members of the British Royal Family, diplomatic residences and private international clients. Among his documented commissions were the refurbishment of Highgrove House for The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, together with work at Winfield House, the London residence of the United States Ambassador. His interiors reflected a traditional approach to decoration, making extensive use of antiques, craftsmanship and architectural context.
